Courses, Seminars, and Scientific Meetings
|
The BCSDP includes a curriculum featuring core and elective courses and seminars. Each trainee is expected to complete all core courses and seminars. In addition, mentors will guide their trainees in the selection of specialized elective courses and seminars best suited to each trainee's program plan.
Trainees will also be required to attend and participate in scientific meetings (including the presentation of papers or posters).

Scientific Meetings
An important part of training in clinical research is attendance at and participation in scientific meetings, where trainees may enhance their research experience and network with other researchers who are at the cutting edge of their field.
With the guidance of the lead mentor, trainees will attend two carefully selected scientific meetings each year (attendance will be mandatory). The choice of meetings will depend on the trainee's research path, but at least one meeting will likely include the annual meeting of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO). By the second year of the program, trainees will be expected to make at least one presentation at a scientific meeting each year.
