We have presented our work at numerous conferences and offices, please see here

What studies are currently enrolling patients?
  • We are currently recruiting patients for 2 studies. One involves predicting the earliest onset of diabetic retinopathy and the second involves studying and predicting diabetic macular edema (DME)

Study 1: Early Diabetic Retinopathy Onset
    • Patients who are diabetic with diabetic duration of 8 or more years
    • Patients do not have any diabetic retinopathy in one or both eyes
      OR
    • Patients are not diabetic and are in good general health (These patients serve as controls)

    Study 2: Diabetic Macular Edema
    • Patients with non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy (NPDR)
    • With or without DME
    • Patients at high risk for DME are especially important

General Study Criteria For All Patients
    • Between 21 and 65 years of age
    • Have less than about 6D of spherical refractive error
    • Have NOT had any prior ocular surgery (esp, Diabetic laser treatment)
    • Do NOT have proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR)
    • Do NOT have other ocular or systemic conditions known to affect vision

If you have any questions about the eligibility of a patient, please contact us or we will determine their eligibility at the patient's first visit to us.

What do you get?

In return for your referrals, your patients will receive a general eye health screening. Vision test results and photographs of the eye can be sent to you. Participants in our study are paid $25 and reserved parking is provided.

Additionally, we invite you to visit our clinic in person and meet the doctors and researchers to discuss more of the procedures and answer any questions you might have.
